In Illinois, motorcycle riders are required to carry insurance for
their bikes, just like drivers of cars are. The minimum legal limits
and coverages are the same for motorcycles as they are for automobiles:
BI limits of 20,000/person and $40,000/accident, and PD at
$15,000/accident. You can also purchase comprehensive and collision
coverage for your motorcycle, as well as medical payments to cover
medical care if you are in an accident. Many motorcycle insurers also
offer coverage a certain amount of coverage for custom equipment and
safety gear.
